1. What is Hypnosis?

HypnosisHypnosis is simply a method of counseling which brings about a focused state of attention. This focused state is a very normal event. We normally enter into this type of focused attention many times a day. A person driving to work may be so engrossed in thinking about an upcoming meeting that he barely remembers the drive to work; a high school student is bored in class and begins daydreaming about his plans for the upcoming weekend; worrying about your child's school performance you find that you left the keys to the car inside the house. So a focused state of attention, therefore, is not an unusual out of the ordinary event.

Clinical hypnosis uses what we already know how to do, in a way which helps you arrive at specific counseling goals. We use hypnosis in addition to counseling to help bring about a deeper level of healing and growth. Using clinical hypnosis, we help people direct their healing abilities to gain relief from trauma, chronic pain, fears, Colitis, Irritable Bowel, depression, anxiety, and the effects of stress. Clinical hypnosis also helps improve academic and athletic performance, self esteem, confidence, as well as pre-surgery preparation and post-surgery recovery.

In 1958 The American Medical Association approved hypnosis as a valuable for of treatment for many problems. There is a great deal of research which points to the effectiveness and safety in using clinical hypnosis.
